A little history
Sainte Marguerite sur Mer is a rural seaside village, with pastures, crops, gardens, woods, a beach, a lighthouse and beaches renowned for fishing.
The village was originally called Caprimont. It had been chosen by the Gallo-Roman administration to house a villa, the residence of the governor.
In the 12th century, the construction of a beautiful Romanesque church was completed, and it was remodeled in the 16th century. Today, Sainte Marguerite sur Mer's calm and gentle lifestyle appeal to lovers of nature and authenticity.
A resort center, the village features villas, hotels, gîtes, B&Bs and restaurants.
The lighthouse dominates the Pointe de l'Ailly woodland, offering a magnificent panorama of the sea and surrounding countryside.
The long-distance hiking trails (GR21 and GR212) and footpaths, laid out by the municipality, criss-cross the 541-hectare commune to discover the treasures of the Bois de l'Ailly and the Pays de Caux.
